We are so excited to announce that our previous intern Dr Honor Melville has been accepted into the University of Queensland’s residency in large animal internal medicine!

After graduating from the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies in Scotland, Honor began her equine rotating internship with us in January 2025. Most of you would have met her during this time, or in the last 6 months when she stayed on as an associate veterinarian. She then followed into the footsteps of previous NEC interns, and was accepted into a large animal internal medicine residency programme.

Veterinary residency programmes are very competitive, and involve an additional 3 years of intensive training, usually in an academic institution, to then become board-certified in a specific field. Our own specialists, Dr Paddy (surgery), Dr Tom (surgery), and Dr Lisanne (internal medicine) followed this pathway themselves and are always so delighted when they can play a supporting role in these young veterinarians’ careers. We are so excited for Honor as she moves into this next phase of her career, even though we’ll miss her smiling face around the clinic!
