• Pre-payment is required to secure your booking (please see invoice in a separate email).
• Patients will need to be dropped off the afternoon before the procedure on Tuesday, the 15th of July any time before 4pm. Your horse will stay with us overnight to allow restricted feeding and to be able to start the procedure as soon as possible the next day.
• You will get a call or a text after the procedure to let you know your horse is awake and back in his box.
• Your horse will be available for pick up in the afternoon of the surgery after 12pm but before 6pm.
• There is a low risk of complications which can include excessive bleeding, swelling, infection, and, in rare cases, eventration (intestine protruding through the incision) with potential subsequent peritonitis. If an unforeseen complication occurs, overnight hospitalization may be required at an additional cost depending on the case.
• The castration day discount is applied to routine castrations only in a healthy horse. The patient should have both testicles descended and no other signs of illness such as fever, snotty nose, cellulitis or other condition which may impact the anaesthetic or surgery. If one or both testicles are retained in the abdomen, a different procedure is required (cryptorchid surgery), and the cost of this surgery will be discussed prior to undertaking any procedures. If you have any questions about this procedure or the health of your horse, please feel free to contact the clinic to discuss with one of our veterinarians.
